Our next community event is on February 14th 2026.
Save the day in your calendar and join us at the Meremere Reserve along with our community partners, Waikato District Council and the Department of Conservation for a day at the reserve tree planting, community engagement, and to hear about our vision and plans for our future community and environmental projects.
The event will include an expo in the hall featuring various organisations working in the wetland space, including the regional council, district councils, the Ministry of Primary Industries, Fish and Game, NIWA, and Manaaki Land. Come and hear from the organisations and people that connect with Meremere. Enjoy some delicious treats, including barbecue with sausages, hamburgers and ice cream.
Participate in activities, including the planting of over 1,000 native plants in the reserve.
Plants have been carefully selected as being suitable for the wetland environment, including:
+ Sedge Grasses for large areas
+ Tikoki’s
+ Ti Koua/Cabbage trees
+ Korimiko
+ Harakeke for water soakage management
The Expo will showcase the various organisations working in the Meremere area, including:
- Department of Conservation
- District councilsMinistry of Primary IndustriesFish and GameNIWA
The purpose is to help the community understand the work being done in the area and potential involvement opportunities.
